What is fiber internet, and why is it better than what I currently have (copper, DSL, satellite, etc.)?

Fiber is the gold standard in high-speed internet technology. Data moves as pulses of light over extremely thin strands of fiberglass, a fraction of the thickness of a strand of hair. This light-speed data transmission provides the upload speeds necessary for smooth video calls, lag-less gaming, seamless file sharing, and households with multiple, heavy internet users.

Unlike other internet technologies, such as copper cables, fiber is capable of delivering symmetrical upload and download speeds. Additionally, fiber does not rely on metallic conductors to run, so unreliable weather and power outages rarely threaten your signal.* Simply put, its speed and reliability are lightyears faster and better than any other broadband option.

*In order to maintain an internet connection during a power outage, your router needs to be powered by a battery back-up (or another power source).

What is the difference between 250 Mbps, 500 Mbps, and 1 Gig fiber internet plans?

The main difference between 250 Mbps, 500 Mbps, and 1 Gig fiber internet plans is speed and capacity. Higher Mbps means your connection can handle more devices and data at once, so 250 Mbps is great for light browsing and streaming, 500 Mbps supports families with multiple users, and 1 Gig delivers top performance for heavy streaming, gaming, or smart-home setups.

How does installation work?

Once you sign up for service, we will schedule your installation as quickly as possible based on technician availability and your preferred date. The installation process typically includes:

  • Pre-installation scheduling and confirmation
  • On-site setup by a trained technician
  • Connection of fiber equipment, testing, and activation

For most residential and business locations, the full process from sign-up to active connection generally takes 1 to 3 weeks. Installation day itself usually takes 1 to 2 hours, depending on your specific setup and any wiring needs in your home or business.
